The Beeckerwerth central warehouse is a 20,000 square meter hall with a storage capacity of around 85,000 metric tons. The air conditioning means that moisture sensitive materials and goods can also be stored there without any problems before being moved further. Currently, these are mainly steel products.
Transport goods are brought in and out by rail – two tracks are available – and by truck. Loading operations are carried out with the help of two overhead cranes. A modern warehouse management system is used to manage the coils.
Today, flows of goods between producers and customers have to be optimally coordinated. The Walsum-Süd slab storage yard is located at the port of Walsum, in the immediate vicinity of the dry handling terminal. The Beeckerwerth slab storage yard is located in the immediate vicinity of the steel mill and hot strip mill.
